The Willow

Oh willow weeping, weep for me

Here within your shadow, I can sympathize with thee

Forlorn years have passed you by

But here you stand

And still you cry

The timeless, ageless bearer of a sorrow that won't die

And standing in the shade you cast, I've come to understand

The mountain of your sorrow

Makes mine but grains of sand

So would you mind, sweet willow, bending one more bough to lee?

To free me from my heavy heart

Oh, would you weep for me?
